Activities
The focus of our research concerns the molecular mechanisms of activation and response of monocytes-macrophages in the physiological and pathological inflammatory reaction. We study the polarization of macrophages in a pro- and anti-inflammatory sense, the activation signaling for the production of cytokines, the main transcription factors involved, the cytokines produced and oxidative stress. We study the possibility of reprogramming/re-educating macrophages in a pro- or anti-inflammatory sense depending on the context, also through the use of natural and synthetic immunomodulators.
